The influence of quadriceps and hamstring strength on balance performance

Background and Study Aim. Muscular strength balance are important components of athletic performance, the muscles around knee (Quadriceps Hamstrings) provide joint stability when is in motion. The aim this study was to analyze correlation between quadriceps/hamstring (H/Q) muscle strength, Hamstring/Quadriceps ratio performance. Material Methods. Ten male volunteers with an average age 21.60±2.11 years, height 176.40±4.67 cm, body weight 76.50±8.85 kg, who were students Faculty Sports Sciences. Performance tests included dynamic static using Biodex Balance System isokinetic Cybex Humac NORM®. Results. Statistically significant (p<0.05) results scores found H/Q overall index (OSI) left leg (r =-0.645), peak torque hamstring anterior-posterior (APSI) right =0.671). correlations quadriceps OSI (r=-0.760) (r=-0.650) leg. No statistically for scores. Conclusions. As a result study, relationship ratios performance without ignoring fact that complex feature involving visual, vestibular, proprioceptive systems. It can be said factor based on our other sources.
